Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Calijah Kancey has delivered solid performances over his first two seasons, but he’s gunning for even bigger things in year three.
After missing eight games to calf injuries, Calijah Kancey is prioritizing his health heading into the 2025 season. And if he stays on the field, Kancey has big aspirations – he’s setting his sights high.
“I think you would be looking at the sack leader,” Kancey stated, via the team’s website.
Last season, Kancey notched 7.5 sacks in 12 games, and he told head coach Todd Bowles in an exit interview that he’s setting the stage for a bigger impact this year.
“It was more so me making sure that I am ready when the beginning of the season comes and not missing those five games that I did the first two seasons,” Kancey stated. “Really, just making sure that I am doing everything to not miss those games but also help the team to dominate at a high level.”
The Buccaneers would love to see their defense in full force with a healthy, full-season performance from a key player like Kancey.
