Buccaneers Godwin Named Most Underrated WR In The NFL

Since entering the NFL in 2017, Chris Godwin has been a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Throughout his career, he’s shared the field with Mike Evans, often playing second fiddle in the Bucs’ offense. Despite this, Godwin has consistently proven himself to be one of the top wide receivers in the league.

CBS Sports writer Jared Dubin recently named Godwin the most underrated wide receiver in the NFL. Yes, the entire league!

“Godwin has had a bunch of injury issues in his career, including a brutal season-ending ankle injury last year that cut short what looked like it was on track to be one of the best seasons of his career.”

Dubin continued,

“Godwin racked up 50 catches for 576 yards and five scores in just seven games in 2024, which works out to a full-season pace of 121-1399-12. He remains one of the most effective slot receivers in the NFL, but he also provides much more than what you imagine a typical slot man does.”

Last season, Godwin’s year was cut short due to a season-ending injury in Week 8, limiting him to 50 receptions, 576 yards, and five touchdowns – his worst statistical performance since his rookie season.

Godwin’s impressive resume boasts four 1,000-yard seasons despite often being overshadowed as a secondary target. With a fresh start in 2025, he’ll aim to regain his pre-injury form and help the Buccaneers extend their playoff streak to six consecutive seasons.
