Buccaneers’ Rookie WR is Showing Out at Training Camp

You thought I wasn’t going to overreact to Buccaneers training camp?

Blah blah blah, usual disclaimer that training camp doesn’t always provide an accurate picture of how good a player will be. Something, something Sean Tucker 2023. Ok, I get it. Training camp isn’t real football. However, Emeka Egbuka has been making some great catches and I wanted to talk about it (also may have something to do with a certain YouTube short I might make).

So far, all reporting suggests Emeka’s route running has been clean to say the least. Which makes sense given his college profile. Emeka was never the fastest WR, nor the biggest, but he was the most polished and had some of the best route running. Baker already has said Emeka isn’t like a normal rookie and has been more like a pro then a rookie. A phrase that is a cliche yes, but could very well be true. And look at this catch in the end zone.

Other rookies have been doing well in camp on top of Emeka. Benjamin Morrison looks to be recovering nicely from a hip injury, Parrish is making noise as well as David Walker, and Tez Johnson go fast. However, outside maybe Morrison, Emeka will be the only one really that will be needed early. As I mentioned in my last article, Godwin seems questionable to return for week 1. So Egbuka goes from wr4/3 to wr3/2. If Baker likes what he sees from the rookie and develops rapport with him early, then that puts the Bucs offense in a much better spot.
