USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a roster move Sunday following their preseason opener against the New York Jets.

Fox Sports’ Greg Auman reported the Bucs are signing undrafted rookie running back Barika Kpeenu.

Bucs are signing undrafted rookie RB Barika Kpeenu, who played at North Dakota State in college. Rushed for 1,005 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2025.”

Kpeenu now gets an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Bucs.

Does Kpeenu’s Arrival Mean Calloway Is Out?

The Buccaneers adding Kpeenu could potentially impact rookie running back Kadarius Calloway.

Calloway rushed for 13 yards on eight carries against the Jets Friday night. He also muffed a kickoff return during the preseason opener.

That performance could lead to speculation about Calloway’s roster status. However, there has been no official announcement that the Buccaneers are releasing him.

For now, any connection between Kpeenu’s signing and Calloway’s future remains speculation. The Buccaneers have not announced a corresponding move involving Calloway.
