Bucs Ready To See 'The Wizard' In Action

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new offensive coordinator for the third straight season after Liam Coen sensationally moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the offseason to take the head coach role.

That left the Buccaneers with a job to fill and passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard is the one tasked with taking over from Coen.

With the Buccaneers one of the best offenses in football in 2024, averaging 29.5 points per game, it won't be easy for Grizzard to take it up a level.

But that doesn't mean the franchise isn't excited about what he could do with the pieces available to him, and general manager Jason Licht, when speaking at the scouting combine, was glowing in his approval of Josh.

"Josh did a fantastic job all year and everybody in the building saw how smart he is and he is easy to get along with and in front of the room he was fantastic," Licht said. "They call him the Wizard – a lot of players call him that and I am just very excited to get to see Josh in that role and to get going. It is going to bring some fresh ideas, which is always good."

The Wizard. That's quite catchy.

But Grizzard likely won't get a breaking-in period, with the Buccaneers having a roster that was playoff-caliber last season despite all the injuries. They will look to make the postseason again.

What Grizzard will be able to do with Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving, Mike Evans, and hopefully Chris Godwin will be interesting. We imagine that the offense won't be tinkered with too much but will have some of Grizzard's own wrinkles.

The Buccaneers' offense has once again changed, but change doesn't always mean bad, and it appears that Licht is more than ready to see what Grizzard can do in 2025.
