The Chicago Bears have made some significant moves throughout the offseason in an attempt to improve the team. Quarterback Caleb Williams had a significant jump from his rookie to sophomore seasons in the league. Now, he is looking to continue stepping up in Year 3. One of the major moves for the team was seeing them trade away wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Let’s take a closer look at what Williams said about the move.
While speaking to the assembled media on Monday afternoon, Williams discussed his feelings towards the Moore trade. He mentioned that he considers Moore a “pro”, but understands that the NFL is a business. He would explain his reaction to the move.
“It sucks that he has to go, but I think we do one of the best jobs… we typically try to send them to a really good spot.”
Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick were sent to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick. In terms of what Williams mentioned, this is one of the better locations for the veteran wide receiver. Having Josh Allen throw you the football and being a top-two receiving threat in Buffalo will make that offense look good. For the Bears, it allows them to have another premier pick in this week’s draft. It also frees Chicago from the major contract that Moore is slated to have when his four-year, $110 million extension kicks in. For a fourth receiving option in the offense, it would have been a bad allocation of the team’s cap to keep him.
Williams wasn’t the only Bears player that discussed Moore recently. It will be intriguing to see how Moore looks with the Bills as well as Williams without the veteran receiver.
