Cam Skattebo had an eventful first half Sunday in the New York Giants’ season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants led the Cowboys 7-0 early in the second quarter with 3rd-and-2 near midfield at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Giants head coach John Harbaugh trusted his second-year running back to try to get the first down.

The Cowboys’ defense stonewalled Skattebo for no gain, leaving him with a bloody nose as a souvenir from the rush attempt.

The first half of the Week 1 clash was a roller coaster of emotions for the fiery Skattebo, who capped off the Giants’ opening drive of the season with a 3-yard touchdown on the ground.

Skattebo made headlines during the offseason for a botched backflip that raised concerns about his surgically repaired ankle. Despite fans begging him to stop going airborne when it isn’t for in-game yardage, Skattebo remained noncommittal during training camp about eliminating the celebration from his repertoire.

With adrenaline rushing from an early TD, Skattebo let the voices in his head win.
