Once seen as a big part of the future of the New York Giants, Cam Skattebo’s future is looking somewhat uncertain.
The Giants are likely to attempt to trade for a running back before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, according to Connor Hughes of SNY. The move would come with Skattebo firmly in the doghouse due to some recent fumbling issues.
Hughes notes that Skattebo’s future was not set in stone even before the season, as the Giants pursued Kenneth Walker III in free agency. They also would have loved the opportunity to draft Jeremiyah Love, but he did not fall to them.
Skattebo has become popular with fans, and he looked promising before he suffered a season-ending injury after eight games last season. However, there were clear indications that his style and practice habits were grating on some of the team during preseason.
Skattebo has 294 rush yards in six games this season for the Giants, but has also fumbled four times, leading to a decline in his role.
