Cam Ward's bold take on offense is a good sign for Titans

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward believes in himself and the team around him. One would think that was a major reason the Titans selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in this past NFL Draft.

After going 3-14 in 2024, the Titans need a quarterback with the confidence to get the job done. Ward proved on Wednesday after a joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons that he does indeed have the confidence with a bold statement about himself and the offense.

"I think we honestly have the ability to be a top-10 offense," Ward said, according to Turron Davenport of ESPN. "It's on every guy in that huddle, including myself, bringing that right mindset every day."

It would be shocking if Ward could lead that type of turnaround as a rookie. It's worth remembering that Tennessee's offense averaged only 18.3 points per game last season, which ranked 27th in the league.

There is talent on this offense, though. Running back Tony Pollard has three straight 1,000-year seasons. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley is a former first-round pick, Tyler Lockett is a valuable veteran wideout, and there are three former first-round picks on the offensive line in left guard Peter Skoronski, right guard Kevin Zeitler and right tackle JC Latham.

At the end of the day, perhaps having the right mindset will help the Titans as well. At the very least, the Titans have to feel great about the leader they have in their young quarterback.

"We all believe it," Ward said. "The whole receiver corps, I tell those guys they're the best. We've got to always have confidence in each other. At the end of the day, no matter what goes on, we've got to have that confidence that we will make the play."
