Arizona Cardinals fans will have to wait a few weeks before their next Jeremiyah Love sighting.
The Cardinals’ rookie running back suffered an ankle injury during the team’s second preseason game Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Love is dealing with a high ankle sprain that is expected to keep him sidelined for Arizona’s final two preseason games.
The Cardinals reportedly remain hopeful that Love will recover in time for the team’s Week 1 clash against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 13.

After a slow start Thursday versus the Raiders, Love found his footing on his team’s third drive. He rushed for 32 yards on 4 carries and also caught a pass for 7 yards in the team’s final drive before halftime.
Love’s night ended following the pass play, with the rookie getting hurt on the tackle by Raiders linebacker Tommy Eichenberg inside the 10-yard line. Love tried to power through the contact, which resulted in his leg getting pinned as he was taken down.

Love may need to go easy on his legs between now and the start of the regular season. This at least gives his girlfriend the chance to drive him around in the expensive gift he got her heading into his first NFL season.
