PHOENIX – Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday that owner Michael Bidwill will be inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. Bidwill joins the Hall of Fame class of 2024/2025, which includes Mike Bibby and Ricky Hunley.

The Bidwill family bought the team all the way back in 1932 when the franchise was still in Chicago. Charles Bidwill, who bought the team for $50,000 (equivalent to over $1 million in 2025), was a professional bookie and an associate of Al Capone.

During World War II, Charles’ son Bill Bidwill operated the team and became the sole owner of the Cardinals in 1972 until his death in 2019. Michael succeeded his father and has been the current owner ever since.

The third generation Cardinals’ owner under his reign has led Arizona to 40-59-1 record with one playoff appearance in the past six seasons. The Bidwill family has been a cornerstone of Cardinals legacy for the past century as Charles’ grandson, Michael, will be cemented as an Arizona sports legend.
