Cardinals Secure Spot in ACC Championship Game

The No. 10 Louisville Cardinals have secured their spot in the 2023 ACC Football Championship Game after their victory over Miami this past Saturday. This will be the first time the Cardinals have ever made it to the ACC Football Championship Game, and they will be facing off against the No. 4 Florida State in the title game.

The highly anticipated ACC Football Championship Game will kick off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, and will be televised on ABC. The game will take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year marks the 14th time in the last 15 years that the game will be held in primetime.

Louisville fans can now purchase tickets for the championship game through UofL Athletics. The tickets available in the Louisville allotment range in price and location, giving fans the opportunity to sit with the rest of UofL supporters. The sideline club tickets are priced at $325 for sections 342 and 345, $275 for sections 346-347, and $200 for section 348. Fans can also purchase lower-level sideline tickets for $250 in sections 130 and 133, $200 in sections 134 and 135, and $150 in sections 136 and 137.

As the second team to secure their spot in the championship game, Louisville’s bench will be on the south side of the stadium, while Florida State’s bench will be on the north side of the field.

Under the leadership of first-year head coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals have had an impressive season, with a record of 10-1 overall and 7-1 in ACC play. They have one more game against Kentucky on Saturday, November 25th, before heading into the championship game.

Louisville has also been making waves in the national rankings, currently sitting at No. 10 in the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings. They have been ranked in each of the last seven weeks of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and reached as high as No. 9 this week. This is the highest ranking for Louisville since 2016 when they reached No. 3 in the AP Poll.

The ACC Football Championship Game has found a long-term home in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2018, the ACC, Charlotte Sports Foundation, and Carolina Panthers announced a 10-year agreement to keep the championship game in Charlotte through the 2030 season. Bank of America Stadium has been hosting the game annually on the first Saturday in December.

The championship game has consistently drawn a large crowd, with an average attendance of nearly 70,000 fans at Bank of America Stadium. The attendance record was set in 2015 when Clemson faced off against North Carolina, with a crowd of 74,514, setting a record for the stadium at the time.

The winner of the ACC Football Championship Game has often gone on to compete in the National Championship Game or the College Football Playoff in recent years. In the last 10 seasons, the conference champion has represented the ACC in the postseason eight times. The ACC holds the second-most appearances in the College Football Playoff of any conference.

To add to the excitement, ACC fans of all ages can partake in the festivities leading up to the championship game. Fan Fest will be held at Romare Bearden Park in uptown Charlotte on Friday, December 1st, from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday, December 2nd, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. It will feature appearances by ACC Mascots, tailgate games, giveaways, and more, offering a fun pre-game experience for everyone.
