NFL’s yearly crescendo, the Super Bowl, , is nearly upon us, and despite the game having not even begun, semi-serious accusations around the ‘script’ that is ‘fixing’ the Big Game have already started to circulate Twitter and media forums.
Much of this centers around the NFL’s confirmed desire to widen their audience base beyond their historic, traditional fan base, through the vast coverage given to Taylor Swift, who has started frequenting Kansas City Chiefs games this season to support new beau, Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.
So, the idea goes, the National Football League wanted the Kansas City Chiefs, and by association, Taylor Swift to reach the Super Bowl so that all of her fans would watch the Super Bowl and subsequently be converted to glorious sport of football for the longer term.
Despite calls having gone both with and against the Kansas City Chiefs this season, fans have fixated on the idea of the NFL calling the shots, especially after a satirical video with Barstool Sports’- and former Houston Texans running back – Arian Foster, went viral last year.

Now it seems like the execs are firing back. The CBS Chairman, Sean McManus, recently fired back at those who claim the National Football League results are a foregone conclusion.
Regarding Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII matchup, CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus quipped, “The NFL has alerted us that, for the first time ever, we will have a double overtime game (in the Super Bowl).”

Obviously, McManus is just joking, and the reference about ‘double overtime’ refers to the fact that there has never been into overtime, save for the New England Patriot’s miraculous comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, and that ‘double overtime’ does not even exist in football at the professional level.
Moreover, a trend has appeared, such that the past 3 CBS Super Bowls have all been won by 10 points or more- a rare feat: The Bucs over the Chiefs, the Patriots over the Rams and the Seahawks over the Broncos.
Let’s see if the National Football League and Roger Goodell get their wish over a very tight game and ‘double’ overtime of sorts, and if the Chiefs can fulfill their ‘scripted’ destiny.
