CBS Sports' prediction will leave a bitter taste in Eagles fans' mouths

CBS Sports has come out with their NFL prediction for the 2025 NFL.

John Breech has the Philadelphia Eagles going 12-5, winning the NFC East. However, the team earned the second seed in the NFC and eventually lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

Can the Eagles go against the prediction and win a second consecutive Super Bowl?

The Eagles are fresh off their second Super Bowl victory, as well as their third Super Bowl appearance since the 2017 season. CBS projects the Eagles to repeat as NFC East champions, giving the division its first consecutive division leader since 2004. While some may believe this isn't a bold "take," the fact that this hasn't happened in 21 years is extremely telling about how difficult it is to repeat as a division champion.

The Eagles may have an "easier" path than their predecessors going into 2025.

The Giants are a franchise in a rebuild that will most likely hand over the reins to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart after the Russell Wilson experience falls short. Even if Dart has a quarter of the success Jayden Daniels had with Washington, it'll be after Wilson most likely leads the team to a 2-6 record.

The Cowboys are a franchise in complete disarray with an underwhelming offensive line, an underachieving quarterback, a first-time head coach, and a front office that overpaid for Daron Bland and jettisoned Micah Parsons. While Washington does have the dynamic second-year quarterback in Jayden Daniels, history has told us that sophomore slumps are extremely common, and he could take a step back with a year of film on him for opposing defensive coordinators.

While "experts" do have the Eagles cruising to the NFC Championship against the 49ers, CBS believes there will be no repeat Super Bowl champion this year. CBS Sports believes that a reinvigorated Brock Purdy, surrounded by a healthy CMC, a complementary Brian Robinson, along with Ricky Pearsall, should be enough to get the 49ers to their fourth Super Bowl since 2012.

Regardless of what the predictions are, games are played on the field, and the Eagles have a chance to prove them all wrong in 2025.
