The Dallas Cowboys have lost two of their first three games in the 2026 NFL season. They are entering week 4 coming off a disappointing loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil. Still, none of that falls on the offense, which has looked incredible early on.
The defense has struggled, but the hope is that will change with the addition of Joey Porter Jr. at cornerback, who arrived in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been excellent, and CeeDee Lamb has been his clear top target.
Lamb has recorded 20 receptions on 25 targets for 309 yards and three touchdowns, already matching his touchdown total from a season ago. The difference is that last year’s total came across 11 more games.
Lamb spoke with reporters after Thursday’s practice and explained why he has been much more successful this year, pointing directly to his health.
“I’m healthy, certain things change when you have your whole body,” Lamb said, per Abby Jones of DLLS Sports. That is reassuring for Cowboys fans given what Lamb went through last season.
In 2025, Lamb suffered a left ankle sprain when a defender rolled up on his leg, forcing him to miss three games.
When he returned he was clearly not at full strength but wanted to play through it for his team. He also suffered a concussion in Week 14 that forced him into concussion protocol.
CeeDee Lamb starts off his season with 3 touchdowns, which passes his total for last season.

The most encouraging part of Lamb’s message is that even while battling injuries throughout 2025 he was still able to surpass 1,000 receiving yards. With a full and healthy body this season, the ceiling is significantly higher.
Lamb and the Cowboys will look to improve to two and two on the road in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.
