The Los Angeles Chargers prepare for a Week 4 matchup against the struggling New York Giants, who may be on the verge of a significant quarterback shake-up. New York began the season letting veteran Russell Wilson manage games while rookie Jaxson Dart developed on the sidelines. After starting 0-3, however, that plan is already in doubt.

Chargers Could See Dart Debut

Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?

Legendary quarterback Phil Simms weighed in on ESPN’s Up & Adams regarding the looming change, specifically in the context of the Chargers game. Following a Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Wilson completed just 56% of his passes for 160 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Simms suggested Dart could be inserted if Wilson struggles early.

“Well, I would say this, playing Los Angeles, if the situation arises that Wilson gets off to a slow start, I could see them bringing him in and just saying, alright, now the change has been made, let’s just move forward and see what he can do in the game,” Simms said.

Facing the Chargers’ defense, a high-powered unit that thrives on quarterback pressure, could be a baptism by fire for Dart. The pass rush, led by key edge defenders, will challenge any quarterback, making this potential debut both high-stakes and telling for New York’s plans.

Dart’s Skill Set Brings Energy

Simms highlighted that the switch is about more than timing—it’s about what Dart brings to the offense.

“A change at quarterback and especially Jaxson, who moves around, has a good arm, and he’s got a personality that rubs off on people, that’ll be a big deal for the Giants just to get that. It’ll be like starting over for them. I think it’s inevitable we’re gonna see Dart in there pretty soon.”

Dart’s mobility, arm strength, and energy contrast sharply with Wilson’s veteran pocket-passing style, offering a potentially dynamic spark for a Giants offense struggling to find consistency.

LA Awaits Giants’ Decision

The Chargers will face a team in flux, with head coach Brian Daboll needing to decide whether to pull the plug on Wilson against a dominant defense or wait for a more favorable matchup against the Saints. Regardless, fans should expect a high-stakes contest, and if Dart enters the game, LA could see a fresh and unpredictable opponent ready to make an immediate impact.
