The LA Chargers announced on Friday that they agreed to terms with seven members of their 2025 NFL Draft class.

Defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell, EDGE Kyle Kennard, wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, tight end Oronde Gadsden II, left guard Branson Taylor, safety R.J. Mickens, and defensive back Trikweze Bridges all signed their rookie deals on the first day of rookie minicamp in Los Angeles.

That leaves two members of the rookie draft class unsigned: running back Omarion Hampton and wide receiver Tre Harris. Both will have to be signed to their rookie deals at some point this offseason.

Chargers' top two picks in 2025 NFL Draft remain unsigned

First-round pick contracts traditionally take a little longer both around the league and for the Chargers specifically. The Chargers signed Joe Alt right before minicamp in June last offseason. LT Rashawn Slater signed his rookie deal prior to training camp in July of 2021.

Tre Harris could sign slightly later than expected as a day two wide receiver draft pick. Second-round draft picks have gotten more guarantees in their contracts over the years.

Take a look at the last two years of the 34th overall pick in the draft. Ladd McConkey signed his rookie deal in June of last year after agreeing to the most guaranteed money for the 34th overall pick in NFL history.

The Houston Texans took Iowa State's Jayden Higgins with the 34th pick in the draft this year and made him the first second-round pick ever to have a fully guaranteed rookie contract.

With Harris' draft slot being 21 spots behind those two players, it's unlikely that he'll be able to negotiate at quite that level. But it makes sense that Harris could want to wait a little bit longer to ensure the best possible rookie contract for himself.

The good thing for the Chargers with both Hampton and Harris is that they are participating in rookie minicamp regardless of contract status.

That would indicate that both negotiations should eventually result in contract agreements prior to the start of the 2025 campaign. There's no indication that the Chargers will go through another Joey Bosa 2016 rookie deal dispute.
