With two nights before the Chicago Bears take on the Minnesota Vikings on "Monday Night Football" we finally got some major injury updates from head coach Ben Johnson, along with the team's final injury report.
The big news is that starting linebacker T.J. Edwards will be doubtful to play due to a hamstring injury and the status of Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson is still up in the air. Edwards did not practice earlier in the week while Johnson was listed as limited on all three days.
Potentially being without both starters defenders would be a major blow for the unit in the first official game under defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

On the offensive side of the ball, things aren't looking too good for running back Roschon Johnson either, who's been out since early August with a foot injury. It's worth noting Johnson returned to practice on Saturday, but was a limited participant.
Thankfully, the Bears are prepared for two of those injuries with two rookies expected to see considerable action as a result in their first NFL regular season game.
If Edwards can't go on Monday, fourth-round linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II will start in his place alongside Tremaine Edmunds and Noah Sewell. The coaching staff has been impressed with Hyppolite's development throughout the summer and he brings some serious speed to the field.
"He's really come into his own," Johnson said of Hyppolite on Saturday. "He's really smart, he takes it seriously. Really athletic. [Dennis Allen] and that side of the ball, they've really grown to think that he's someone that we can depend on even though we're going to have the bright lights of Monday Night Football on us. I anticipate him on the field there on defense. He's got to be a playmaker for us on special teams and I think we're going to continue to see that player ascend."

In the backfield, seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai looks to be good to go based on the final report. Monangai's been dealing with a hamstring injury himself that forced him to miss the final two preseason games. In the preseason opener, Monangai looked strong carrying the footballaveraging 5.0 yards per carry.
"Monangai has really hit his stride there over the course of the spring and in camp. I trust that guy at this point," Johnson added about Monangai. "That's a big thing to say for a young player like that. He tends to do everything right."

As for the cornerback position if Johnson isn't able to suit up in Week 1, the Bears will start Tyrique Stevenson and Nahshon Wright on the outside, who have played on the outside throughout the entirety of training camp with Johnson sidelined.
