Chicago Bears head coach clears up offseason speculation about former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright

There's been some speculation over the last couple of months that Chicago Bears offensive tackle Darnell Wright, a former Tennessee Vols standout, might switch from right tackle to left tackle in 2025.

Wright, who is entering his third season in the NFL, has exclusively played right tackle during his first two seasons with the Bears (33 starts).

Ben Johnson, who is entering his first season as Chicago's head coach, shot down the idea of Wright moving from right tackle to left tackle as the Bears opened training camp this week.

"Our plan is to keep Darnell on the right side right now," said Johnson on Tuesday.

Injuries and/or poor performance could obviously change Johnson's plans, but for now, it sounds like Wright will continue to operate as Chicago's starting right tackle.

If a move is made down the road, however, it's worth noting that Wright made 13 starts at left tackle during his time at Tennessee, so he's played the position against elite competition.
