Current Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham is one step closer to becoming the general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars. On Feb. 15, it was announced that Cunningham became a finalist for the role as he moved on to round two of the interview process. The Jaguars will conduct in-person interviews with Cunningham, James Gladstone, Jon-Eric Sullivan, Ethan Waugh, and Josh Williams starting Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Cunningham, considered the favorite, has been a sought-after candidate since the 2024 offseason. Over the past two offseasons, he has interviewed for the general manager roles with the Cardinals, Chargers, Commanders, Panthers, and Titans.
It has also been noted that Cunningham and Liam Coen, the Jaguars' head coach, share the same agent. While this connection does not guarantee a deal, it is another box checked if the Jaguars want a unified pairing between the general manager and head coach.
Ian Cunningham has a leg up in my opinion. The reason: he shares an agent with Liam Coen. #Jaguars #DaBears https://t.co/6Vo9fPgi22

If the Jaguars hire Cunningham, the Bears will receive two third-round picks over the next two drafts. Time will tell who the Jaguars decide to bring on as their next general manager. Even if Cunningham is overlooked, it won't be long until he becomes a general manager in this league.
