The Chicago Bears will be without a key defender Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards has been officially ruled out for Sunday’s contest, due to a hand injury that he underwent surgery to repair last week.
In addition to the hand injury that kept Edwards sidelined throughout this past week of practice, the 29-year-old is also battling a hamstring injury.
Before getting injured, Edwards appeared in five games for the Bears this season, posting 31 total tackles, with one tackle for loss.
Sunday against the Vikings, the Bears will likely turn to Noah Sewell to take on an expanded role and the snaps previously allocated to Edwards.
Sewell, 23, originally chosen by the Bears in the fifth-round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has appeared in eight games this season, posting 45 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and one forced fumble.
Against the Vikings, Sewell and the Bears’ defense will look to keep Aaron Jones and Minnesota’s ground attack that ranks 23rd in the NFL bottled up.
Back in the season opener agianst Minnesota, Sewell produced nine total tackles, with 1.5 tackles for loss.
