Chicago Bears player shares unusual take on trade rumors

Free agency and the NFL Draft may be over, but that does not necessarily mean the Chicago Bears are done making moves. In fact, trade rumors are still swirling in the Windy City, and there is still plenty of time for a deal to happen.

Typically, players do not not like being involved in trade speculation. Especially not at this point of the spring when the offseason program is underway and training camp will be here before you know it.

But then, there is quarterback Tyson Bagent, who has heard his name tossed around in trade conjecture and is actually not too upset about it.

During a recent appearance on ESPN 1000’s Waddle and Silvy, Bagent shared a rather unorthodox take on the rumors, and it’s certainly a healthy one.

“So whatever that next step is, we’ll be ready. But it’s also cool to hear that there’s rumors going on, whether they’re true or not,” Bagent said. “All noise is good noise. So I thought it was neat, but still just in our lane — Chicago Bears.”

Will the Chicago Bears trade Tyson Bagent?

Bagent joined the Bears as an undrafted free agent back in 2023 and has made 12 appearances and four starts since then, throwing for 917 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.4 percent of his passes and posting a 76.4 passer rating.

The overall numbers aren’t pretty, but it seems very obvious that Chicago really likes Bagent. Why else would it have handed 25-year-old a two-year, $10 million contract extension last summer?

And with teams around the NFL always in need of a quarterback, Bagent’s name has surfaced in trade winds quite a bit since then.

At this point, it does not appear that the Bears are all that interested in moving the Shepherd University product. Of course, that could change, as Chicago also has Case Keenum on the roster, and it’s worth noting it picked up Miller Moss — a former USC teammate of Caleb Williams — as an undrafted free agent this spring.

For now, though, Bagent is the Bears’ backup quarterback, but it’s clear he enjoys the fact that he is valued enough where other clubs have expressed interest in trading for him.
