The Kansas City Chiefs' receiver room has been beaten up over the course of training camp, but it appears that clearer skies could be on the horizon.
With the biggest name being Marquise Brown, who is dealing with a foot/ankle injury, the receiver who saw the majority of his 2025 season be wiped out due to injury, so it isn't ideal that he is again sidelined.
Given that the Chiefs were playing the cautious game with No. 5, it now appears that things are traveling in the right direction for Brown, to the extent that head coach Andy Reid has offered up a rather positive update on his receiver's progress.
"He’s making great progress,” Reid said. “He’s running now, so that's a positive, I don't think he's too far off, but we'll see. He's doing good."
We aren't sure if we will see Brown in any of Kansas City's two preseason games, and in truth, it's doubtful; instead, get him ready for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With a big emphasis on getting the deep ball back for Patrick Mahomes and the offense, Brown is crucial to that vision coming to life. Yes, Xavier Worthy too, but with Brown on the field as well, it gives Mahomes two genuine home-run weapons.
Exactly how much work the coaching staff can get into Brown to ramp him up for Week 1 is unknown, and there is every chance he won't be in "football" shape, but just having him out on the field will be a boost to the Chiefs.
And it sounds like that is a distinct possibility.
