Rashee Rice appears to have sustained an injury from the Kansas City Chiefs’ 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The issue has somewhat impacted his availability for Thursday’s Thanksgiving showdown against the Dallas Cowboys, especially after the third-year wide receiver was estimated as a limited participant in practice on Monday due to a hamstring injury.
The Chiefs did not practice on Monday, but they were required to submit an injury report ahead of Thursday’s contest. The good news, however, is that Rice’s status was changed in Tuesday’s practice session, which seems to indicate that he should be good to go for the Cowboys game.
Rice played a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ much-needed win over the Colts in Week 12. The former SMU Mustangs star registered eight catches for a season-high 141 yards. He wasn’t able to score a touchdown, but he converted a two-point score from a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The Indianapolis game was just Rice's fifth appearance of the season. The NFL suspended the 25-year-old for the first six games of the season for his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas in 2024. Rice was also recovering from a season-ending knee injury from last year.
In five games played thus far, Rice has produced 34 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns. He also has four carries for 18 yards and a rushing TD.
After being estimated as a limited participant on Monday due to a hamstring issue, the Chiefs announced that Rice was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice. This indicates that, barring unforeseen setbacks, Rice should be available for the Thanksgiving game.

It is worth noting that right guard Trey Smith (back) and tight end Noah Gray (concussion) both missed practice on Tuesday. Both players are expected to miss Thursday’s game against the Cowboys. Wide receiver Xavier Worthy (ankle) and linebacker Leo Chenal (knee) both practiced in full and should be good to go on Thursday.
Dallas will host the Thanksgiving matchup at AT&T Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET. The Chiefs enter the game with a 6-5 record, while the Cowboys are 5-5-1.
