The curtain has come down on the Kansas City Chiefs' season with a 38-0 loss to the Denver Broncos at Mile High as Andy Reid's re-jigged team got the doors blown off them.

In the grand scheme of things, this game will mean nothing as the Chiefs rested a host of starters, while Denver was all gas, no brakes as it attempted to book its playoff spot.

With Patrick Mahomes sitting out, Carson Wentz got his first start of the season, finishing his day going 10 for 17 with 98 passing yards as the Chiefs only had the ball for 18 minutes.

In what was an audition of sorts for Carson, and he reflected on his first start of the season.

“Obviously not good enough,” Wentz said. “We didn’t play good as a team, I didn’t play my best either. Move on from this one pretty quick. It was fun to get out there, fun to get myself and the other guys a chance to go out there and compete, but obviously they were the better team.”

The Chiefs would manage just 98 total yards, only have five first downs, and convert one of nine third downs, which wasn't the best spectacle for the Chiefs Kingdom.

But we know what was at stake here - nothing.

With the focus clearly on trying to get through the game injury-free and Denver playing its starters trying to get into the postseason, the Chiefs simply did what they had to do to escape Mile High unscathed.

They did, and now attention can turn to what Reid hopes will be another deep playoff run that ends with the franchise making history.
