While there are new injuries to report for the Kansas City Chiefs as they return to training camp in St. Joseph, the positive updates for those who've missed time far outweigh the bad at this juncture.

As the Chiefs took the field for their first of three final practices in camp, cornerback Kristian Fulton could be seen taking reps with the first-team defense. His presence in the secondary is a welcome one after having missed the bulk of camp and the team's first preseason game against the Cardinals on the Physically Unable to Play list.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also provided an important update on Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, saying the wide receiver is "making great progress" and is actively running in practice.

While the Chiefs have several other players dealing with various ailments, the positive reports on such impactful players are what matter most for the Chiefs on Monday. Heading into their second preseason week, the regular season is creeping closer, which makes this a sweet spot for players getting game-ready.

The positive outweighs the negative in the latest injury updates from Andy Reid.

Fulton was signed by Kansas City this offseason to a two-year deal to provide them a reliable presence on the boundary across from Jaylen Watson. If Fulton is available, Trent McDuffie can slide into inside, giving the Chiefs their most potent look in the secondary.

Speaking of best looks, having Brown as a healthy option to start the year is paramount for Kansas City, given the likely suspension awaiting Rashee Rice to start the year. Patrick Mahomes was forced to compete without both wide receivers for the majority of last season, and the results were felt in the unit's middling metrics.

The previous mention of Watson in the secondary does bring up the fact that he was diagnosed with a concussion after Saturday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs will likely keep him out of their second preseason game against the Seahawks on Friday as he heals.

Other players who sat out Monday's practice session include tight end Jake Briningstool, who has missed considerable time with a hamstring concern; Deon Bush, who is likely out for the year with a torn Achilles; Janarius Robinson, who just suffered a foot fracture on Friday; and tight end Ethan Driskell, who had an appendectomy.

The Chiefs wrap up training camp on Wednesday with their final practice at Missouri Western.
