The Kansas City Chiefs continued to roll after a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC as a result.
Now at 15-1, the Chiefs are in the favorable position of being able to rest their star players from the Week 18 clash against the Denver Broncos before beginning their postseason assault on the Super Bowl.
So all is right in the Chiefs world ... including in the personal life of heiress Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt.
It seems she's found herself a boyfriend in Cody Keith, who as it happens is friends with Patrick Mahomes. In college, Keith was at East Carolina as a quarterback before spending some NFL minicamp time with the Ravens, Commanders and Colts. He's now involved in his family's real estate business.
"He grew up playing football and he and Patrick actually trained together out of college," Hunt recently said. "They had a pre-existing friendship. And it is just so funny how small the world is. They have been buddies this whole time and it took him all this time to meet me."
Keith and Hunt as a couple aren't quite as high-profile as, say, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. But they are all in this together now as due to the fact the Chiefs have clinched a first-round bye, they won't play a meaningful game for the next two weeks.
For tight end Kelce, being the No. 1 seed in the conference is a big honor.
"It's just checking another goal off the list," Kelce said. "Win the division, get the first seed, so we get that first-round bye, and every game that we play has to come through Arrowhead. We have a lot of pride in doing that year in, year out. I think coach Reid, he's the best at challenging us every single week and getting us ready to play. It's an honor to be the number one seed, but at the same time, we know from last year, anybody can beat somebody anywhere. So it's just being focused, knowing that we got to be smart with the time that we have and finish this thing off."
Kelce makes a great point. While yes the Chiefs are 15-1 and have home-field throughout the playoffs, that doesn't mean they can't be beaten. As evidenced last year when Kansas City rolled into Baltimore and stung the Ravens in the AFC Championship game.
So Kansas City is in an advantageous position, but there is still a long way to go and once the playoffs begin, it will be a sudden-death scenario.
They have done all the heavy lifting in the regular season to set themselves up with a great path to the Super Bowl, but now the hard work truly begins. ... with romance blossoming along with hoped-for playoff wins.
