Chiefs may finally add wide receiver help for Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs could certainly use much more depth at the wide receiver position.

Andy Reid's team still doesn't know whether Rashee Rice will be suspended, fully healthy, or will even stay out of trouble.

As for Xavier Worthy, he's currently wearing non-contact jerseys in OTAs, and given his history of injuries and underperformance, that's another situation to keep a close eye on.

Considering that, NFL insider Albert Breer believes the Chiefs will seriously consider making a run at Stefon Diggs.

The Chiefs could be in play for Stefon Diggs

"Stefon Diggs would make a ton of sense," Breer wrote. "He’s healthy, was productive last year, has played against the Chiefs’ championship teams of the recent past, and could be a crafty plug-and-play piece for Patrick Mahomes & Co."

The Chiefs certainly know Diggs quite well. He's often been on the other side of the field in multiple epic postseason battles, often on the losing side.

This team could also consider making a run at Tyreek Hill, given his familiarity with Mahomes, Coach Reid and returning offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Nevertheless, Breer believes the Chiefs might be a little cautious with him because of his big injury:

"Hill, to me, would be a little bit of a long-range idea, just in that you’d want to see him coming out of that catastrophic injury, and know he’s going to be able to at least be in the neighborhood of the kind of player he was. I don’t know one way or the other if he will be," added Breer.

Whatever the case, one thing's for sure: The Chiefs simply cannot afford to roll into next season with the same core of players they have right now.

Their defense may have improved this offseason, but adding Kenneth Walker III may not be enough to bring the offense back to life.
