The Kansas City Chiefs have signed a second player following their rookie minicamp, this time making an addition on the offensive side of the ball after adding Carson-Newman S Major Williams to the roster.
The Chiefs signed Louisiana Tech WR Jimmy Holiday after a successful tryout at rookie minicamp. The cards were stacked against Holiday, given the competition at the wide receiver position this weekend. Holiday was competing for attention against a draft pick (Jalen Royals), three UDFA signings, seven other UDFA tryouts, and a veteran player who already defied odds to make Kansas City's 90-man roster in 2024 as a tryout.
Holiday must have made quite the impression with the offensive and special teams coaching staff to earn an undrafted free agent contract against all of that competition. He posted pictures of himself from minicamp on his Instagram account and a photo of himself signing his contract with the team. Check it out:
Holiday began his career with the Tennessee Volunteers, mostly contributing as a kickoff return specialist, but he transferred to Western Kentucky after the 2022 season. He spent a season with the Hilltoppers in 2023, recording the best year of his college football career with 20 receptions for 326 receiving yards and two scores.
He transferred once more to Louisiana Tech for his final college football season in 2024, appearing in all 13 games while starting the final six for the Bulldogs. Holiday finished his redshirt senior season at Louisiana Tech with 658 all-purpose yards and six total touchdowns.
At 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds, Holiday is thickly built and has the necessary size to contribute as a return specialist and slot receiver in the NFL. At his Pro Day ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, Holiday ran a 4.4s 40-yard dash, posted a 36.5-inch vertical jump, and leapt a 123-inch broad jump.
It's not yet clear what roster move Kansas City made to clear room on the 90-man roster for Holiday, but expect that to be revealed soon.
