Another McCaffrey brother will be working in the NFL next season.

Max McCaffrey is joining the Los Angeles Chargers as an offensive assistant, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. The oldest of the four McCaffrey brothers spent last season as an offensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins, meaning he is following new Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel to his new team.

Max McCaffrey did not catch on as a player in the NFL, but does appear to have made it as a coach. He got his start at the college level at Northern Colorado, where he eventually became offensive coordinator. In 2023, he jumped to the NFL with the Dolphins.

The move means Max will be on the West Coast with brother Christian, though the two will not cross paths often on account of being in different conferences.

It has been a pretty big weekend for NFL legacy families landing coaching jobs. McCaffrey is just the latest to do so.
