The Carolina Panthers wrapped up mandatory minicamp in Charlotte on Thursday. It was an opportunity to see what Dave Canales and his staff are building during the offseason.
One of the positions to watch is the running back room with Chuba Hubbard leading the group on the ground. The Panthers veteran turned 26 on Wednesday and had a good day in practice, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. But it was a tweet promoting his latest article that caught the attention of Hubbard.
"While praising Panthers' new RBs, Chuba Hubbard seemed to take a veiled shot at Miles Sanders, saying RB room often was "a little off," Person wrote on X (Formerly Twitter). "Otherwise, Hubbard's B-day was like any other day: Running hard, jawing w/ Jaycee Horn and hitting the JUGs machine."
Hubbard set the record straight with his reply to Person, and didn't appreciate the assumption his comment was a shot at Sanders. "I keep to myself and do my job. Please don't put drama around me," Hubbard said. "I’ve been blessed to be able to share the room with some of the best. I also am blessed to have made a bunch of life time friends (For real). It’s all love and always been. No fake narratives involving me. Preciate it!"

Less than 24 hours before this exchange, Hubbard gave Person his thoughts about the Panthers running back room coming together.
"Just the way we’re practicing, the way we trust each other, the way we’re communicating, it’s starting to show. Just the more we practice, the more we play, the closer we’re gonna get and the better we’re gonna get. Usually in the running back room, sometimes it can be a little off. But everyone’s cool in our room, and that’s a blessing. I don't take that for granted"
The Panthers cut Sanders with one year remaining on his deal this offseason. His exit wasn't the best and he expressed his frustration via a recent interview with the Dallas Cowboys' website.
"These last two years, I don't really have much to say," Sanders said. "I guess I'd say I handled the situation as best I could, there was a lot of things out of my control that I would not like to speak on and just keep it in house, so I'll just keep it at that."
Hubbard joins Rico Dowdle and fourth-round pick Trevor Etienne. Raheem Blackshear and Jonathon Brooks are still there as well. The unit looks to help each other out and give Bryce Young an added layer in Dave Canales offensive scheme.
