The Bengals released veteran guard Alex Cappa on Monday.

Cappa made 50 starts for Cincinnati after signing with the Bengals in 2022. He helped them get to the AFC Championship Game that season and was considered their best offensive lineman that season.

The Bengals clear $8 million in cap space by releasing the veteran. There is a $2.25 million dead cap hit with the release, but this is a move that seemed inevitable after the struggles that Cappa had in 2024.

That gives the Bengals more than $68 million in cap space to work with ahead of free agency.

In a perfect world, Cincinnati would be able to find the next Cappa. He was a good signing in 2022 and performed at a high level, but wasn't the same after his injury.
