Cleveland Browns take a tough loss where they can’t afford it just a day after beating the Green Bay Packers

The Cleveland Browns got the job done in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers when no one believed they would. Cleveland threw a great defensive plan at Jordan Love and the Packers to walk away with a 13-10 win. The Browns’ offense didn’t show a whole lot until late when they came alive right when they needed to. Quinshon Judkins and the run game were the catalyst for the late success in the fourth on offense. Cleveland’s offense did lose one starter against Green Bay and he’s unfortunately going to be out for the season. 

Browns lost OT Dawand Jones for the season against the Packers 

Cleveland was hit with an injury in the first quarter against Green Bay when Jones went down on the field and was helped off with what was labeled a knee injury. The Browns eventually ruled Jones out in the third quarter with the knee injury that is now going to cost him the final 14 games of the season. Cleveland had moved Jones to right tackle in this game with Cornelius Lucas as the left tackle. That experiment with Jack Conklin outlasted all of one game for the Browns before tragedy hit. 

This marks the third straight season to begin Jones' career that he has suffered a season-ending injury. The former Ohio State Buckeye missed a combined 13 games in his first two seasons, and he’s going to miss more than that this year alone. It’s a step in the wrong direction for Jones, who at one point looked like a great pick by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Jones has started 20 of the 24 games he’s played in but now won’t be back on the field until next season. 

Cleveland has a major problem at left tackle with no clear answer there for the future and Conklin is quickly aging at right tackle. The Browns are going to have to address the offensive line in more than one way next offseason. It would be a surprise if the Browns didn’t spend one of their 2026 first-round picks on the offensive line. Cleveland will hope to get Conklin back on Sunday against the Detroit Lions and they’ll roll with Lucas on the left side. A tough loss from what was a special game for the Browns with how they came out on top.
