Cleveland Radio Host Breaks Silence On The Shedeur Sanders Incident

Cleveland sports radio host Tony Grossi discussed his viral interaction with Shedeur Sanders.

The Cleveland Browns began their preseason with a 30-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Friday night. Sanders started the exhibition contest, completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

A pre-game exchange between Sanders and Grossi later surfaced on social media. The fifth-round pick pressed Grossi for only saying negative things about him, but the two laughed before ending a seemingly friendly encounter.

On his Monday show, Grossi explained that he pulled Sanders aside to ask him another question following the rookie's post-game press conference. He was glad the quarterback didn't discuss his qualms in front of everyone else.

"That's when he discussed what was on his mind," Grossi recalled. "I was a little surprised he went into that because as I said, it was inaudible but I said, 'Hey, this is your night, man. This is a big night for you. Have fun.' But I appreciated the fact that he did not say what was on his mind from the podium, which other quarterbacks have done with me, which is very uncomfortable."

Grossi was likely referencing a tense exchange with Baker Mayfield, who bashed the host for posing the "dumbest question you can ask" before storming out of a press conference in 2019.

He's grateful Sanders took a different approach, but Grossi wasn't as thrilled about Sanders' brother filming the interaction without his knowledge.

"That's fine. Now that I'm aware of it, I'll be a little more careful and everything," Grossi said. "But everybody that saw the video, it was good-natured. I don't know what caused us to laugh. I really can't recall that conversation precisely, but we went on good terms."

Grossi reiterated that he was caught off guard by Sanders raising those concerns right in that moment. He initially thought the 23-year-old was joking.

"It shouldn't have been that big of a deal on his mind after his big night, Grossi said. "Anyways, all is good. We saw each other today at practice, and we move on."
