The Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster only included three RBs, which came as a shock to many. The reason for the shock is that Tyler Goodson's recent arm injury is likely to hold him out for a couple of weeks to begin the 2025 regular season. This gives the Colts only two active RBs on the roster, which points towards the team having to elevate one of Khalil Herbert or Ulysses Bentley off their practice squad.
It appears the team is considering another option, though. It involves a player from Colts head coach Shane Steichen's past. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Colts worked out former Philadelphia Eagles RB Boston Scott on Tuesday.
A couple of RB workouts of note on today’s transaction wire: Deuce Vaughn with the #Broncos and Boston Scott with the #Colts.

The New Orleans Saints drafted Scott in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he would never appear in a regular-season game with the team. His career really began once he signed with the Eagles. He got to suit up for two games during his rookie season and saw his role expand tremendously in 2019, appearing in 11 games and logging two starts. During his six years with the Eagles, he recorded 302 rushes for 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also made an impact as a pass catcher with 71 receptions, 566 yards, and a touchdown.
Scott played under now offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who is now the Colts' head coach, during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Scott spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers last season but did not appear in a regular-season game. Recently, though, NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared that Scott is healthy and ready for his next opportunity. And who knows, maybe that will be in Indianapolis with the Colts. Scott was one of six players the Colts worked out and one of two RBs. The participants who attended the workout are listed below.
