If you are an NFL fan, then it is almost certain that you’ve heard about the Indianapolis Colts and their quarterback struggles.
Ever since franchise quarterback Andrew Luck’s stunning retirement right before the 2019 season, the team has exhausted every resource and chosen every option they possibly could in securing their quarterback of the future but to no avail.
In 2023, they took a risk on uber talented, but extremely raw quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick.
The former Florida signal caller showed a ton of promise in his rookie season that was cut short because of a shoulder injury.
Colts fans were expecting a big leap from year one to year two, but it never came, and Richardson arguably regressed.
This led to Indianapolis bringing in competition in the form of Daniel Jones.
They are hoping that the former New York Giants quarterback can light a fire under Richardson, but the Colts are also lining up insurance options in case the development never happens.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network announced that former Texas star Quinn Ewers will be meeting with Indianapolis on Wednesday afternoon.
Ewers likely won’t be picked until day two or day three, but this is a clear message to Richardson that the organization isn’t willing to wait around forever for him to figure it out.

Once viewed as the top quarterback in the 2025 class, Ewers has the tools to be a starting caliber NFL quarterback and undoubtedly has a chip on his shoulder after seeing his draft stock fall so much since last year.
If the Colts decide to take a quarterback in this year’s draft it will only add fuel to the big, bright fire that has been lit in the building since the offseason.
There will be endless speculation on who will win the starting job, and Richardson will be under that much more pressure.
