Commanders floated as potential Stefon Diggs option

The Washington Commanders are hoping that the 2026 season brings better fortune than the 2025 campaign, which was marred by injuries and overall regression from their surprise run to the NFC Championship the year before. The Commanders have already made significant changes on both sides of the ball this offseason, including bringing in David Blough as their new offensive coordinator, replacing Kliff Kingsbury.

Now, the team has some intriguing options still left on the free agent market to help bolster the roster, and recently, ESPN pointed out a high-profile target Washington could go after to help out the wide receiver room.

“Is Stefon Diggs going to land somewhere — Kansas City? Las Vegas? Washington? — that could still use a veteran WR?” noted the publication.

Diggs had a productive year for the New England Patriots in 2025 before being released following the team’s run to the Super Bowl, which ended with a loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs has since been exonerated of charges stemming from his personal chef, clearing the way for him to sign with a new team in free agency.

As ESPN noted, Washington isn’t the only team that will likely have interest in the veteran star’s services. Some were skeptical about how much Diggs would have left in the tank last year coming off an ACL injury, but he proved to be extremely valuable for Drake Maye and the Patriots’ offense, leading the team in receiving yards and providing a stable security blanket for the quarterback.

Jayden Daniels would certainly benefit from having a player like Diggs on the roster, and the Commanders’ fanbase is hoping that the team continues to go all-in this offseason on getting things back on track.
