A little more than one month after her marriage to Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson, U.S. women's national team star Sophia Smith had more big news to share on social media Wednesday.
Smith and Wilson have been together for six years after meeting as freshman at Stanford University. And the couple couldn't have been happier with how their proposal and subsequent wedding went.
"Honestly, if I could like put a measurement on it, it was like a 12 out of 10," Wilson told reporters at the time. "It was, like, if there was a unit that I could measure, it was a 12 out of 10. It was everything I could imagine and more."
"Everything went perfectly right. I didn't slip up, didn't fumble over my words. It honestly was one of the best days of my life, truthfully."
Now the couple are expecting parents, with Smith sharing to Instagram that she's pregnant with their first child.
"life just keeps getting sweeter," the USWNT forward captioned the set of ultrasound photos.
Fans were over the moon in the comments.
"MY HEART," teammate Naomi Girma replied.
"Congrats Soph!!! How amazing so happy for you guys," Kristie Mewis said.
"So so happy for you both!!" Thorns FC commented. "cheering you both on during this journey."
"OMG YAYYYY," Morgan Weaver exclaimed. "can't wait to meet baby Wilson."
"We couldn't be happier for you, Sophia! Congratulations to you both," the NWSL shared.
"Awwww congrats soph ... so happy for you two," Catarina Macario teared up.
"SHUT UP. This is everything," Alyssa Thompson said, with a trio of heart-eyes emojis.
Smith is one of the bright young stars on the U.S. women's soccer team — starting six games in the 2024 Paris Games where she recorded three goals and two assists on the way to a gold medal.
Congrats to Sophia and Michael as they enter parenthood together!
