Cooper Kupp's NFL career doesn't appear to be over but his days in Los Angeles might be.
After the Rams were eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday, the 31-year-old receiver told reporters there's "no doubt" that he wants to play football next season. And even though he'd love for that to be in LA, he's not sure what direction the team will ultimately decide to go in.
"I feel like I've got a lot of good football left in me," Kupp explained, via ESPN.com. "I'll be playing football next year. That much I know."
Kupp has been the subject of trade rumors dating back to Week 10's deadline and with two years left on his contract extension, the Rams could look to open up some cap dollars by moving on.
"Who knows what's going to happen," the Super Bowl LVI MVP said. "That's out of my control. And we will see what it's going to be. ... I don't have any clarity on what that's going to look like or anything like that. So yeah, obviously would love to be in LA, but I don't know what that's going to look like."
Kupp had been one of Matthew Stafford's favorite targets since the QB's arrival with the Rams and in their first year together they made history — connecting 145 times for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Now with the emergence of Puka Nacua though, the team may see the veteran as expendable as it tries to build up other aspects of its roster.
Kupp finished this season with 67 catches, 710 yards and six scores in just 12 games, but his inconsistency has nagged at him.
"There's all these things you're weathering through offensively, things that I feel like, man, we should be better than the product we're putting out there in terms of the production and the points that are being scored," Kupp said of LA's offense.
"And then just for me personally feeling like, man, there's things, I'm watching film, feeling good about football and playing, but production-wise it's not showing up. And a lot of stuff's outside of my control. And it is frustrating."
There's definitely still a place for Cooper Kupp in this league. But whether or not that's with the Rams is another question entirely.
