Could 2024 be Jordan Addison’s Last with Vikings?

It’s likely that Addison’s latest transgression will result in a three-game suspension without pay. That would cost him, based on the way his contract is structured, about $177,000, half the price of a Rolls-Royce.

Addison has proven unreliable, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this is his last season in Minnesota.

Addison’s career is only beginning and he’s proved he’s one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Although the Vikings are not going to part ways with him after this most recent incident, another run-in with the law will likely end his tenure here. That seems to be what Walter’s is hinting at. Not only Walters, but Ben Goessling (Star Tribune) recently echoed Walter’s thinking.

But that is gonna be a very pertinent thing for this team as well, because DUI tends to result in NFL discipline. And ordinarily, it’s a 3-game suspension. I mean, that’s kind of been the rule of thumb for DUI that the NFL has used… “And the fact that it’s two years in a row, I would think that there cannot be much, independent of whatever they say publicly, I would think the message to [Addison] privately needs to be fairly clear that there cannot be another instance of this or we are done.

Although nothing has been said officially by the Minnesota Vikings’ organization, it’s likely the Vikings told Addison privately that if another instance of this happens again they’re done with him. Overall, Addison seems remorseful about the situation, where he spoke to the media for the first time since the incident, this past week at training camp. Although he’s remorseful, it’s time for his actions to prove his words.

As mentioned by both Goessling and Walters, it’s fairly likely that Addison will be suspended a total of three games this year without pay. Goessling elaborated more on this in Access Vikings but it may not necessarily be the first three games of the season. The NFL will most likely wait until all the legal matters have finalized before making any final verdict.

Even though he’ll potentially miss three games, it could always be worse. The Vikings still have the best wide receiver in the NFL, Justin Jefferson, and Jalen Nailor seems to be cementing himself as a threat so far early on in training camp.

Whether the three games come at the start of the season or later on, Addison will be able to jump right back in and hopefully continue to build off his rookie season. Let’s also hope this is Addison’s final run-in with law enforcement.
