Cowboys Announce Jadevon Clowney Development Before Vikings Game

The Dallas Cowboys did not have the services of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in their last game due to a hamstring injury, and there is still no guarantee that the three-time Pro Bowler will suit up on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Clowney was forced to sit out Dallas’ disappointing 44-30 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 14, which is the first time he was unavailable since missing the first three games of the season. There was some optimism surrounding the 32-year-old’s status for the Vikings game after he practiced throughout the week, and the Cowboys were able to provide a crucial injury update on Clowney on Friday.

Clowney is currently in his first season in Dallas after signing a one-year, $3.5 million deal in free agency. In nine games played in 2025, the veteran pass rusher has registered 4.0 sacks, 27 combined tackles (15 solo), five tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and three passes defended.

Clowney was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. However, Dallas announced on Friday that the former No. 1 overall pick was able to log a full practice on the team’s last session before Sunday’s game. Clowney, however, has officially been listed as questionable to play against Minnesota.

It is worth noting that Clowney was also tagged as questionable heading into the Lions game in Week 14, and he ended up sitting out that contest.

However, team owner Jerry Jonesspoke to reporters on Friday and said that every player on the injury report “has got a chance to step out there Sunday.” This includes Clowney, who appears to have a legitimate shot at suiting up against Minnesota.

Sunday is a do-or-die game for the Cowboys. They enter that matchup with just an 11% chance to make the playoffs. A win will increase their odds to 16%, but a loss will virtually eliminate them from postseason contention.

It will be a home game for Dallas on Sunday, with kickoff from AT&T Stadium scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
