Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer Makes Big Guarantee

On the heels of a 7-10 season that saw the Dallas Cowboys finish third in the NFC East, new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is calling his shot early.

Schottenheimer was given his first chance to be a HC earlier this year after several seasons as the team's offensive coordinator under Mike McCarthy. And he envisions an immediate return on Dallas' investment this fall.

The Cowboys have been perennial underachievers since the "Triplets" era with zero NFC title game appearances since Troy, Michael and Emmitt wore the star on their helmet. However, Schottenheimer sees the franchise being so successful that teams are going to be kicking down the doors to their facility to steal his assistants by this time next year.

"We're gonna win. And when we win, our coaching staff is going to get raided. People are going to come after our coaches, because we're gonna win," Schottenheimer planted his flag (via The Athletic's Jon Machota).

Brian, son of the late Marty Schottenheimer, recently talked about his dad not being here to see him land his first head coaching gig.

"I know he's proud," the rookie HC told reporters in the lead-up to Father's Day. "I miss him. I would tell him that I used all the life lessons that he taught me, not just about football, but about life and being a good man and a good husband and a good father, and that I think I'm doing OK for myself. But I know he's proud; I miss him like crazy."

Marty passed away four years ago following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 200-126-1 in his 21 years on the sideline with the Browns, Chiefs, Redskins and Chargers and his .613 regular season winning percentage remains top 10 in NFL history.

Expectations for Brian are pretty low in 2025. But he's certainly not lacking confidence heading into Year 1.
