The Green Bay Packers picked up another strong victory in primetime against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, improving their league best record as the SNF home team to 21-4.
The win comes as atonement for last season’s 40-40 tie in Dallas, and it also puts Green Bay firmly back in the playoff hunt.
With six weeks down, the Packers have plenty to look forward to as the offense has begun to find its footing, and the defense its identity.
The Green Bay Packers’ defense has seemed to be on the up and up the past two weeks, and that trajectory only continued against one of the league’s better offenses.
The unit allowed just fourteen points or less for the third consecutive game, their longest streak since 2016, and a lot of that success is thanks to the secondary.
Intercepting passes has become somewhat of a signature for Green Bay through the first six weeks, with the team forcing nine such turnovers.
In all of last season, that number was just seven.
Sunday’s contest was responsible for two of the nine.
In week four, I talked about the importance of safety Evan Williams to the Packers’ defense, and in Sunday’s contest, he provided another interception, this time in the red zone.
EVAN. WILLIAMS.

Just two drives later, rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse joined the fun as well, recording his first career interception.
did you CISSE that?!

Having a defense that can force the big play is obviously crucial to winning close games, and it was a luxury that the Packers often lived without last year, despite having a positive turnover differential overall.
When the Packers eventually get Micah Parsons back, this DB room will have even more havoc to work with, and the result could look something like the Bears’ thirty-three takeaway season in 2025.
At the very least, we’re seeing serious improvement week to week, and a cornerback group that started the season as a question mark has been pretty solid.
Keisean Nixon is surprisingly one of the league’s more consistent defenders, and Brandon Cisse has lowered his passer rating allowed every week he’s played.
Against the Cowboys, that rating was just 9.4, an incredible performance against two of the league’s best in Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens.
If the Green Bay Packers’ defense can keep it up, they’ll be the perfect compliment to what is now a rising offense.
When it comes to scoring points, there’s no team better at getting in it’s own way than Green Bay.
Despite their domination from wire to wire, the Packers could’ve easily hung over forty points on the Cowboys this week.
Jordan Love was let down by three different dropped touchdowns on three different drives, and in closer games, plays like those will cost the team its chance to win.
It’s been an issue for some time, and it will have to improve eventually if the Packers plan on doing big things.

The next closest quarterback has 11.
Outside of that however, the output looked pretty promising, and some incoming infusions to the offensive personnel will only support continued growth.
Savion Williams was effective in his return to the WR3 spot, and he’ll open up the more gadgety side of the Packers’ playbook again.
Kevin Zeitler is still waiting in the wings at guard if the team decides to move to a veteran, even as they’ve valued continuity with Travis Glover more in the past two weeks.
Most importantly, although I hate to say it, this team will benefit greatly from the reinstatement of starting running back Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs is expected to be removed from the commissioner’s exempt list today, and while I by no means support him as an individual, he will give this Packers’ offense a major boost if he’s even half-decent on the field.
As of now, opposing defenses have little to no reason to respect the running game, and even with that, Green Bay’s air attack has been firing on all cylinders in the past two games.
Matthew Golden and Christian Watson became the first pair of Packers’ receivers ever with five hundred yards each through the first six games, and Jordan Love could be a dark horse for MVP.
With a serviceable rushing stable, the field will only open up even further for what is one of the NFL’s best pass-catching duos, and if that happens, it might be scary for the league.
The Green Bay Packers will get another favorable matchup against a struggling Lions defense this coming Sunday, and that means that Watson and Golden will get another chance to shine.
If the Packers can pick up that division win, the next chunk of the schedule looks to be full of winnable games, especially if the team can stop beating itself.
It’s best not to get too confident too soon, as it’s only been a good two weeks, but if we’re lucky, the schedule could shape up in a way that gets us to Thanksgiving without a loss.
