For most, in 2025, the Dallas Cowboys and Super Bowl don't belong in the same sentence, but try telling that to those in Oxnard with Brian Schottenheimer instilling the belief that this team can reach the NFL pinnacle.
With training camp underway, the Cowboys have been put through their paces with three days of practices that have seen the defense take the ball away for fun, but also the offense show some of its tricks with shifts and motions.
Left guard Tyler Smith started prior to camp starting, he truly believed the Cowboys could win the Super Bowl, but after three days of camp, does Dak Prescott have a similar line of thought?
“Hell yeah,” Prescott said. “If he doesn't believe it or anybody in that locker room doesn't believe it, then I asked them to get out. Shotty said it day one, we showed up, if you don't want to win a Super Bowl or don't think we can win a Super Bowl, then don't come to Oxnard, and you're in the wrong place.
"We know the standard when you wear the star. We know the expectations. I credit Shotty for not shying away from it. I don't think anybody's ever heard me shy away from it. And so, it's just making sure everybody understands that. That's a damn sure a possibility. So, if guys don't believe that, they're in the wrong team, wrong organization, and wrong place.”
The first step is belief, and that is something this Cowboys team has in spades, and now it has to produce tangible results, and given that we are yet to see padded practices, we can't exactly reinforce those thoughts.
For some, Dallas is a playoff team, while others like Colin Cowherd think they'll be embarrassed most Sundays, and it won't be until we begin the regular season and we see Schottenheimer's vision play out that we'll see whether the Super Bowl belief is well-placed or not.
But don't walk around Oxnard spewing Super Bowl doubt, because this Cowboys team knows the standards, and they appear determined to adhere to them.
