Cowboys' Jerry Jones Reveals Thoughts On Micah Parsons Contract 'Deadline' And Camp 'Osmosis'

The Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones contract saga has continued to dominate Dallas Cowboys training camp, and as the team leaves Oxnard, there is still no indication of negotiation movement in any substantial way.

Micah has been present in meetings and on the practice field in walkthroughs, but hasn't done any of the "heavy" lifting in practice as he awaits his new deal.

That has led to many wondering about Micah's fitness with Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles now just weeks away, and he hasn't got a foundation of work behind him because of the contract situation.

But what are Jerry's thoughts on how Micah has been in Oxnard even though he isn't practicing?

"I'm glad he's been here, it's important for the teammates," Jerry said. "But it's important for him to pick up all of the coaching and the nuances. Osmosis is a very big thing and he's been here and been a part of that."

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer detailed how involved Micah has been in meetings and even through walkthroughs, helping coach up the younger defensive ends, but it all seems a little hollow given No. 11 still hasn't gotten his desired contract.

While there is still a belief that Micah and the Cowboys will come to terms on a new deal that will likely pay him in excess of $40 million APY, the wait will ultimately, we think, be detrimental to the team.

Why? Because we aren't expecting Parsons to go out in Week 1 and blow up the Eagles with no significant practice behind him, are we? Plus, the chances of a soft tissue injury remain nightmare fuel for Cowboys Nation.

And yet Jones insists indicates there has been no movement and that there is no "deadline'' on re-doing Parsons, who is presently slated to play in 2024 for $21 million.

“No, not at all,” Jones said Wednesday. "You don't have deadlines when you’re playing under a contract.”

All of this could have been avoided, but here we are, with the Cowboys leaving Oxnard, and Micah still doesn't have his new contract.

But at least he was in camp, right?
