Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin Reveals New 'Goal' At Running Back

When you have an offensive weapon like KaVontae Turpin, you need to get the ball in his hands as much as possible, and it's clear that is what Dallas Cowboys head coach/offensive play-caller Brian Schottenheimer is going to do.

Armed with ridiculous speed, Turpin, as returner, running back, and receiver, can be devastating simply due to how quickly he can get downfield.

We saw him used at times last season under Mike McCarthy as both a receiver and a running back, to good effect. However, under Schottenheimer, more is going to be put on Turpin's plate, right?

“That's the goal," Turpin said. "Everybody give me plays. We got all these weapons, so it going to be hard to get everybody the ball. So, me going into the backfield, that's the one way to get me the ball."

Given all the shifts and motions we saw to begin training camp, having Turpin as an offensive piece alongside CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Jake Ferguson gives Dak Prescott a good quartet to dissect defenses with.

For Turpin, his blistering speed is nightmare fuel for defenses, as it is something you simply can't guard against, unless the defense drops deep into coverage. However, quick, simple throws will then be available, so either way, Turpin could feast.

All offseason, we have heard how dangerous Lamb and Pickens will be, but don't forget about Turpin, and what he could become with an increased snap count as a receiver/running back.

He might just be the wildcard that rips the league apart in 2025.
