Cowboys Make CeeDee Lamb Announcement During Giants Game

CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing NFL season in 2025, missing out on the playoffs for a second straight year after finishing with a 7-9-1 record under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. But the Cowboys looked to turn things around to begin the 2026 NFL season as they faced Malik Nabers and the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium (New Jersey).

Lamb had a down season in 2025 for his standards, likely due to missing three games and the addition of star wide receiver George Pickens. In 14 games, the former Oklahoma Sooners star tallied 75 catches for 1,077 yards and just three touchdowns, the lowest of his six-year career.

Still, entering Sunday night’s game against New York, Lamb had recorded 41 receiving touchdowns through his first six seasons. This was tied for the 8th-most in Cowboys history with former tight end Billy Joe Dupree.

And with 5:44 remaining in the second quarter, the Cowboys faced a 3rd-and-goal situation at the Giants’ 1-yard line after failing to get into the end zone on two runs by Javonte Williams. But Dak Prescott threw a perfect back-shoulder to his favorite pass-catcher before Lamb brought it in for his first touchdown of the season and 42nd of his career. This allowed Dallas to tie the game at 7 apiece.

In doing so, Lamb has passed Dupree for sole possession of the 8th-most receiving touchdowns in Dallas history, achieving this feat in just 95 games. The next player he can catch on the all-time list is former Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson, who tallied 48 receiving touchdowns from 1973 to 1983.

But Dez Bryant holds the Dallas record for most receiving touchdowns with 73, while his former teammate, Jason Witten, is right behind him with 72.
