The bar for the Dallas Cowboys' run game in 2025 isn't exactly set too high, but that doesn't mean they can't jump over it.
A room consisting of Miles Sanders , Javonte Williams, Jaydon Blue, and Deuce Vaughn knows they must produce, and now they've gotten a nice little piece of motivation heading into what looms as a defining year.
In Pro Football Focus' ranking of the top 32 running backs in football, the Cowboys didn't have one make the list. Oh, and for what it's worth, Rico Dowdle, who finished with 1,079 yards (12th most in the NFL), didn't make the list, either.
But given that no one made this list for Dallas shows the lack of faith in the run game heading into 2025, and based on the production of Williams and Sanders last year, it is easy to see why (718 yards, six touchdowns combined).
Now, a change of scenery for both might just be what is needed, and coming to an offense that will want to establish the run, coupled with offensive coordinator Klayton Adams and offensive line coach Conor Riley working their run game magic, the arrow should be trending upward.
Sanders, per our insider Mike Fisher, has been flashing at OTAs and with mini-camp this week, look for the former Philadelphia Eagle to continue his march toward the starting job.
Williams looms as his backup, while Blue, Vaughn, and Phil Mafah can't be discounted for some sort of role either.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer should be getting PFF's rankings and plastering them all over the running back meeting room, because that is how little they are regarded.
Time to make some humble pie.
