Dak Prescott may have just revealed Cowboys’ secret weapon

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to have a high-powered offense once again under second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. While Dak Prescott has plenty of weapons at his disposal (and a great offensive line to boot), it sounds like a sleeper weapon may be emerging in training camp.

In an interview with Kay Adams on “Up & Adams,” the 33-year-old quarterback claimed that backup tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford has been turning heads throughout training camp so far. Prescott revealed how much he loves Spann-Ford’s work ethic and said that the two have built solid chemistry throughout the offseason.

“He’s a guy that’s just done everything right since he’s been here,” Prescott said about Spann-Ford. “I give a lot of credit to the guys that show up every day in the offseason. The guys [who] hit me up and say, ‘Hey, when’s the next time you’re throwing?’ And Brev is the epitome of that. Anytime I had the ball this offseason [and] was in Dallas, Brev was there.

“He was ready to go,” Prescott continued. “I think that [he] just shows his mindset. Just shows the mentality that he worked with this offseason and obviously, just the chemistry to create in that time has helped out [in training camp] as well. He’s playing on fire, and he’s doing a hell of a job.”

Brevyn Spann-Ford is entering his third season with the Cowboys. He’s appeared in 34 straight games for the club in that span, not missing a single contest so far in his career. The 26-year-old has proven to be a solid blocking tight end in Dallas, and it appears he’s doing everything he can to become a more efficient pass catcher.

Jake Ferguson will be the starting tight end for the Cowboys. He’s been a consistent target for Dak Prescott in recent years. But at the very least, it sounds like the offense has great depth in the tight end room behind Ferguson.
