Dallas Cowboys Should Strongly Pursue Alvin Kamara Trade

If the Dallas Cowboys are serious about making a playoff run, they should call the New Orleans Saints to see if they're willing to deal Alvin Kamara.

Kamara has been the heart and soul of the Saints since joining the franchise in 2017. He has racked up over 7,062 yards on the ground and 4,839 yards through the air in 120 career games. The five-time Pro Bowler had 1,493 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns during the 2024 season.

Even though Kamara hasn't been specifically mentioned, there are rumors about veterans on the Saints receiving interest on the trade market. At this stage in his career, he could still be an impact player for a contender.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, aren't hiding their plans for the 2025 season. Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that Dallas will pull the trigger on a deal if the right opportunity presents itself.

"If the right opportunity were there today, we’d pull the trigger. … If we saw a great opportunity … we’d be all over it," Jones said.

Would Kamara want to play in Dallas?

During the 2024 season, Kamara agreed to a two-year contract extension. He made it clear that he wants to remain with the Saints.

"This city has been loyal to me. This organization has been loyal to me," Kamara said. "I think I would lose my flame if I went somewhere else, honestly. I don't feel like I would get this same feeling I get putting on the Fleur de Lis anywhere else."

Kamara is probably still committed to the Saints for the 2025 season. If he changes his mind though, New Orleans would most likely do right by him.

As for the Cowboys, it's no secret they need help at running back. Sure, Javonte Williams is having a career year, but there isn't a ton of depth behind him. It was confirmed Friday that Miles Sanders will miss the rest of the season with knee and ankle injuries.

Jaydon Blue is currently the primary backup for the Cowboys. He might become a great player someday, but Kamara would certainly provide an upgrade over him. More importantly, Kamara would form a lethal one-two punch with Williams.
